Keep Your Content Fresh

"A well-executed website, like a quality television program or film, is a combination of content and delivery." David Meerman Scott, author of New Rules of Marketing and PR. What Scott says is true. Think of your web site as a representation of your storefront or office.  Imagine if you never added to your inventory, rearranged the merchandise, or upgraded your services.  People would soon stop dropping by. A stale website can become a liability.  Instead, view your online marketing - website, e-mail newsletter, and social media - as a way to showcase your business and services.

Link to Active Social Networking Sites

Hopefully you’re keeping up with your social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter. These outlets are easy to update every day so even if you can’t update your website more than once a month, a Facebook fan page badge will be recent and will keep your web site looking like it is alive with new content.

Add Recent Photographs

Recent photographs are a great visual cue for visitors to quickly see what is going on in your business.  Photos of new products and customers having fun will quickly convey a sense of positive energy and encourage more drop-ins for your business.

Old photos that conjure up feelings of nostalgia can be a nice touch for certain businesses, but be sure to clearly label them as the past so that no one can confuse them with your current state of business.

Maintain an Updated Event Calendar

An event calendar shows that there is activity on your site, and it is evidence that the website - and the business - is being well managed. Fresh content will keep people coming to your website because they will know that each time they visit, there will be something new to see, and that they have new events to look forward to at your place of business.
